Chandigarh, June 1: Punjab teachers will now get a holiday with just one click! Yes, you heard it correct. The Punjab government has made leave application process online so that transparency prevails over there and the process is completed in an easy way.

 

Notably, the Punjab Education Department has provided the leave facility on the website of epunjabschool.gov.in. Under this new initiative, child care, maternity leave, ex-India leave, without pay leave and half pay leave can now be applied online. The teachers to apply for the leave, just have to do is login to the above-given site with ID and password and fill the details.

An official statement released by the Punjab Education Department said, “Login on the website of epunjabschool.gov.in An ID and password is given for the teachers to apply for the leave. The teachers have to explain only the details of the leave, period, purpose and the details of the documents attached with this form on a shape of PDF file.”

The statement further said, “After submission the application goes to the school head. If the school Head has the power to give leave then he accepts leave on his own level. Otherwise the application is forwarded to the District Education Officer (DEO). IF the DEO has the power to do so, then He will give the approval immediately. If he has not the power to do so, then DEO will forward the applications to the secretary. Similarly, the Secretary will approve the applications; if he has not the power then he will recommend it to the minister.”

Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Om Parkash Soni said that this is a good initiative of the education department, which will trim down the problems of teachers and also departmental work will be easier. He said that education department is changing with time and this change is a positive move. “The new system has not been only simplified the process, it also creates a hassle-free atmosphere for the teachers,” he concluded.

Importantly, there are about 1.25 lakh employees in the education department of the majority of them are women. Child care and maternity leave are among the highest in leave cases. With this new process, women teachers will be benefitted greatly.
