Gandhinagar, May 1: In a major breakthrough, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday night nabbed a terrorist identified as Ahmed Lambu from Gujarat`s Navsari-Valsad coastal area. Notably, Ahmed Lambu was allegedly involved in 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case.

After getting a specific input, Gujarat ATS conducted a raid in Navsari-Valsad coastal area and arrested underworld Don Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide Ahmed Lambu who was also involved on 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case.

Lambu was involved in planning, landing of RDX and execution of 1993 Mumbai blast in which more than 250 were killed while thousands of others were injured. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Interpol had earlier issued a lookout notice against Ahmed and also carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh since 1997.

An ATS official said, "We had been tracking Lambu for quite some time. On Thursday night we got tipped of his location leading to his arrest." "Lambu used to stay near Mumbai Musafirkhana and his arrest could lead agencies to many undisclosed details regarding 1993 Mumbai blast and Underworld don Dawood," official added.

Ahmed Lambu was also a close aide of Mustafa Dossa who is already arrested in 1993 Mumbai bomb blast case. Mustafa Dossa was one of the main "brains" behind the conspiracy.
