Srinagar, June 11: At least six Pakistani terrorists were neutralized on Sunday and a major infiltration bid was foiled by the alert Army personnel after a fierce encounter that took place near the Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. The arms and ammunition along with the body of slain terrorists have been recovered from the encounter site.

Notably, the encounter comes within a month of centre’s conditional ceasefire to stop anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir. Alert Army personnel foiled an infiltration attempt in Keran sector near the Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kupwara district and eliminated six Pakistani terrorists.

After noticing suspicious movement along the LoC, the Army challenged a group of infiltrators but they opened fire which ensued in a fierce encounter. Six terrorists were eliminated and during the search operation, the body of slain ultras was recovered along with arms and ammunition.

Importantly, this is the fourth infiltration bid and 16 terrorists were killed since the Centre announced conditional ceasefire to stop anti-terror operation on the request of Jammu and Kashmir’s CM Mehbooba Mufti. On June 5, security forces foiled a major infiltration bid and gunned down three Pakistani terrorists along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Machhil sector.
