Singapore, June 11: The much anticipated Singapore Summit is slated to be held tomorrow after a long series of twists and turns. Arriving in Singapore, this will be the first time a sitting U.S. president has met face-to-face with a North Korean leader to discuss North Korea’s illicit nuclear weapons program and a potential deal to denuclearize the communist country.

Finally arriving at the final stage of meeting in the summit, US President Donald Trump and North Korea Kim Jong Un would finally shake hands and discuss ways to denuclearize the nuclear weapon. Viewing back to the history of this Singapore Summit, the US President Donald Trump had canceled the meeting citing “open hostility” from North Korea. But after some last minute diplomacy, the meeting was rescheduled, at the exclusive Capella hotel on the secluded and secure to resort the island of Sentosa.

Kim Jong Un smiled broadly as he met Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and said, “The entire world is watching the historic summit between (North Korea) and the United States of America, and thanks to your sincere efforts and we were able to complete the preparations for the historic summit,” Kim told Lee through an interpreter.

Trump has said he hopes to win a legacy-making deal with the North to give up their nuclear weapons, though he has recently sought to manage expectations, saying that it may take more than one meeting.

Pertaining to the outcome of this meeting, the US wants North Korea to get rid of its nuclear weapons in an irreversible manner that can be verified internationally. Only when steps begin to be taken in that direction will it "receive relief" from the grip of UN sanctions.

However, Kim Jong Un has also said he now wants to focus on building the North Korean economy and thus wants sanctions relief and international investment.

This will be the first summit of its kind between a leader of North Korea and a sitting U.S. president. The North has faced crippling diplomatic and economic sanctions as it has an advanced development of its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
