Chandra Babu Naidu inaugurates diaphragm wall pylon of Polavaram project

West Godavari, June 11: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu today inaugurated the diaphragm wall pylon at the multipurpose irrigation project Polavaram. Addressing the small gathering here, Naidu assured that the mega irrigation venture will be completed by December 2019.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of construction, the Chief Minister said that near about 55 percent work has been completed. Taking a pot-shot at Central government Babu claimed that Rs 1000 crore has not been released by the BJP government. The TDP Chief also slammed YCR Congress party for stalling the ongoing project.

 

A dream project of Chandra Babu Naidu, Polavaram is considered as the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh. with the commencement of the project, 7.2 lakh acres of land will come under the cover of irrigation which includes 13 districts of the coastal state. Under AP reorganization act, 2014, the project was declared as the national project.

The construction of biggest diaphragm wall took 414 working days for the final roll-out. Near about 2500 workers and 500 engineers were involved in the delicate task. The Chief Minister personally monitored the development with 25 physical inspections and 63 virtual inspections.
