BJP’s Dhas got 526 votes whereas opposition candidate Jagdale had managed to get 452 votes out of 1003 valid votes. 25 votes were found to be invalid. A former NCP leader, Suresh Dhas was suspended from NCP for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.
Speaking to the media, Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde dared NCP leader Dhananjay Munde to take political retirement for not being able to win MLC segment in the stronghold of NCP. Ahead of the crucial monsoon session at Nagpur, the poll outcome is considered as the big setback for NCP leader Dhananjay Munde who is the leader of opposition in the upper house.
