Terrorist attack on Police guard post in Pulwama district of JK; two policemen martyred

Srinagar, June 12: Ramzan stands for peace. But the coward act of terrorists of spreading bloodshed continues in Jammu and Kashmir. At least two policemen were martyred while three others were injured in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday.

 

Notably, a group of terrorists fired upon a police guard post, at a court complex located Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. In a surprise attack by a group of terrorists that was later turned into a heavy exchange of fire left two policemen including SgCt Ghulam Rasool and SgCt Ghulam Hassan martyred while three others were injured.

However, the area has been cordoned off and a search operation is underway. Mohd Aslam Chowdhary, SSP Pulwama said that the incident took place at around 3 in the morning. “2 of our officers have lost their lives and one is critically injured. Terrorists are being identified and they will be nabbed soon,” he added.

Kashmir zone police in a tweet said, “Our tribute to martyrs SgCt Ghulam Rasool and SgCt Ghulam Hassan whom we lost today in a terror attack at Court Complex Pulwama. We stand by their families & support each other at this crucial juncture. RIP.”


The wreath laying ceremony for martyrs SgCt Ghulam Rasool & SgCt Ghulam Hassan held at DPL Pulwama. Civil and Police officers led by IGP Kashmir laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyrs who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty.

In a separate incident, terrorists attacked a Central Reserve Police Force party with grenades at Janglat Mandi in Anantnag. Four CRPF men were reportedly injured in the attack. All the injured were rushed to the hospital.

The unfortunate and coward incident comes within a month of centre’s conditional ceasefire to stop anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir. On May 16, the Centre announced conditional ceasefire to stop anti-terror operation on the request of Jammu and Kashmir’s CM Mehbooba Mufti.

Earlier on Sunday, at least six Pakistani terrorists were neutralized and a major infiltration bid was foiled by the alert Army personnel after a fierce encounter that took place near the Line of Control in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.
