Goa to have its third Mandovi Bridge soon; 85% work completed

Panaji, June 12: This year India is celebrating as a construction year aiming to construct roads across the country via various projects. In order to keep an eye on these projects, Union Minister for National Highways and Road Transport Nitin Gadkari today took stock of the progress of national highway projects in a meeting held in South Goa. The two-day meeting commenced today.


 

Gadkari reviewed around 700 projects. Of these, the expenditure on 427 projects will be borne by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Road Transport Ministry would implement 369 projects worth Rs 100 crores.

Gadkari said, 300 of the 700 projects will be completed by March 2019. The Union road transport ministry is celebrating this year as the construction year. Goa PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and senior officials from NHAI and PWD are participating in the meeting.

 

In his tweet, Gadkari said that Inspection of the country's third-largest cable bridge built on the Mandvi River in Goa. After completion of this bridge, people from Goa to Mumbai will get great relief and also reduce the traffic to Goa.

 

He has also shared a video which highlights the bridge and its features and one of the characteristics of this bridge is that the construction of the bridge totally comes under ‘Make in India’ initiative.
