The unfortunate incident occurred when an another Army personnel from the unit stopped a car asking the driver to drop Aurangzeb in Shopian. Terrorists stopped the vehicle as it approached Kalampora and abducted Aurangzeb and killed him later. Police are investigating the case while Army is also conducting an inquiry into the incident.

Rajouri resident Aurangzeb was posted in the terrorist stronghold of Shopian in south Kashmir. He belonged to 4 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry and was posted with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles camp at Shadimarg in Shopian.

Looking at the holy month of Ramzan, Home Minister Rajnath Singh announced a conditional ceasefire to stop anti-terror operation on May 16 this year on a plea of Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti. And a brave soldier Aurangzeb was killed when he was unarmed and was on leave to celebrate ‘Eid’. The Indian government gave them the whole Ramzan while they didn’t even let a soldier celebrate Eid. Why?

Last year, in the month of May, Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz who was on a leave to attend a wedding function of a relative was abducted by terrorists from Herman area found dead with multiple bullet injuries in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. However, later in September, security forces eliminated the Lashkar commander Ishfaq Padar who was allegedly involved in the killing of Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz.
