Hubballi, June 15: Justifying central government’s move on Lingayat issue, BJP leader Jagadish Shettar said separate Lingayat region was a pre-planned political exercise to divide society. Speaking to the media, the BJP lawmaker stated that people have rejected the divisive agenda of Congress party.
According to media reports, the Central government has reportedly rejected the proposal on separate Lingayat region sent by then Congress government under the leadership Siddaramaiah. He further accused Siddaramaiah of damaging social fabric between two communities just for the sake of vote bank politics. The Hubballi-Dharwad MLA maintained that constitution doesn’t have any provision for separate religion.
