3 Maoists gunned down by security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh

Raipur, June 15: In Chhattisgarh, security forces have gunned down three Maoists in Sukma district of Bastar region today. Superintendent of police Abhishek Meena confirmed the incident.

 

He said, following specific inputs about the presence of Maoists in the Chintagufa area of Sukma district, a joint team of District Reserve Guard and Special Task Force had launched a search operation.

When the patrolling team was cordoning off the forest the Naxals opened fire on them, he said. Security forces retaliated and the gunfight took place in which three hardcore Maoists killed. Later, their bodies were recovered along with four weapons.

The process of identifying the slain Naxals was on, he said.

Last month, the security forces killed three Naxalites carrying cash rewards on their heads were killed in two encounters in the same region.

And on April 21, in the same district Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Anil Kumar Maurya, CRPF Jawan martyred during an encounter between Maoists and security forces.
