Taking cognizance of the flood hit areas, Manipur CM Biren urges Centre for immediate assistance

Imphal, June 18: Incessant rainfall in the Northeast regions has created havoc and majorly disrupted the normal life. With severe measures taken for public safety and relief camps working day in and out, Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombom Biren Singh visited Maiba Khul and Mongjam Village in Imphal East and met the flood victims of the area on Sunday.

 

Taking cognizance of the situation, CM Biren cited that there are many villages which are still underwater and the opening of relief camps are undertaken for the safety. Besides this, not only the normal life but the farms and crops have also been disrupted because of the heavy rainfall. However, the government will compensate their best through the local MLAs and concerned DCs.

Visiting various other places the Chief Minister also claimed that there is a need to have more attention on the medical facilities, sanitation measures, and drinking water availability. Having a telephonic conversation with the Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Manipur CM Nongthombom Biren briefed him about the current flood situation in the State and urged him to extend immediate assistance for the flood victims.


 

The Chief Minister further said State government has asked for instant financial assistance for rebuilding the houses that have been affected because of the flood and repair and reconstruction of roads immediately. In addition to this, the Union Home Minister has already directed the Home Secretary to provide immediate help for the flood-affected people of the State.
