Six children die after car falls into a pond in Bihar

Bihar, June 19: In a tragic incident, six children were killed when a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in which they were traveling hit a tree and fell into a pond in Bihar’s Araria district. Other four in the vehicle have been injured. The children were traveling with four adults in a Scorpio car when the tragedy occurred.

 

Six children died on the spot while others were taken to a nearby hospital. The police informed saying that the driver was trying to save a child who was crossing the road when he lost control of the vehicle.

Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the site and pulled out the children from the vehicle. They were immediately taken to Kursakanta primary health center, where six children were declared dead. Two injured children had been sent to Araria Sadar hospital for treatment, and the driver escaped unhurt and fled from the spot.

All the six children were declared brought dead when they were taken to Sadar hospital. The three injured were out of danger.

The district magistrate said an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh will be paid to the next of kin of each of the deceased.
