Geneva, June 20: Expressing the disapproval about the trustworthy UN Human Rights report with malicious design to portray India as a violator of Human Rights in Jammu Kashmir, India has slammed the report which legitimizes terror in Jammu Kashmir by referring to terror groups as “armed groups” and calling terrorists “leaders”. The UN report has put the credibility of the UNHRC at stake.

Indian ambassador Rajiv K. Chander made a statement inside the UN HRC and the report that several countries come out in India’s support, condemning UN.

Calling it a fallacious and motivated report, India has said that the report which in fact is a “selective compilation of largely unverified, aimed at promoting a false narrative distorts the truth”, has already been rejected by India.

Inside the UNHRC, strongly condemning the malicious report by UNHRC, Indian envoy stated that the report undermines the untied consensus on terrorism and in fact legitimizes terrorism by referring to the UN designated terrorist entities as “armed groups" and calling terrorists "leaders" Surely. The Council cannot be oblivious of this attempt to legitimize terrorism which remains the pernicious violator of the fundamental rights, said Indian envoy.

The UN Human Rights wing has published a 49-page report on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir details human rights violations and abuses on both sides of the Line of Control, and highlights a ‘situation of chronic impunity for violations’ committed by Indian security forces.

The Report alleges that - “Indian security forces used excessive force that led to unlawful killings and a very high number of injuries, the report says, citing civil society estimates that up to 145 civilians were killed by the security forces between mid-July 2016 and the end of March 2018, with up to 20 other civilians killed by armed groups in the same period”

Refuting the report, earlier the MEA has said that “The report violates India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan is in illegal and forcible occupation of a part of the Indian state through aggression. We have repeatedly called upon Pakistan to vacate the occupied territories. The incorrect description of Indian Territory in the report is mischievous, misleading and unacceptable. There are no entities such as “Azad Jammu and Kashmir” and “Gilgit-Baltistan,”

Indian ambassador has appealed the UNHRC to reject all efforts to legitimize terrorism and unequivocally condemn terrorism and its perpetrators and reject the report.
