When Raksha Mantri meets, martyred Jawan Aurangzeb’s father gives 72 hrs deadline to avenge his son’s death

Srinagar, June 20: Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday met the family of Martyred Jawan Aurangzeb in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district and extended her condolences. Notably, Aurangzeb was kidnapped and killed by a group of terrorists last week in Pulwama district of South Kashmir while he was on his way home to celebrate Eid.

 

During the meet with Defence Minister, Aurangzeb’s father Mohammad Haneef said that the government and Army should avenge his son’s killing within 72-hours. He said, “I request PM Modi to take strict action and not show any weakness with regard to Kashmir and clean up all those bad people as quickly as possible.”

He further added that the terrorists who have infiltrated Kashmir should be eliminated without spreading bloodshed in the region. “Kashmir is ours and we should not destroy it, but drive out terrorists who have infiltrated here,” he concluded.

After the meet, while talking to the media, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “I came to meet martyr’s family. I have spent some time here. One message I can take back from here is that here’s a family, here’s a martyr, who stands out as an inspiration for us and that is the message that I am carrying from here.”


The visit of Nirmala Sitharaman comes two days after Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat met the family of rifleman Aurangzeb. During the meet, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat assured Aurangzeb’s family that his supreme sacrifice would not go in vain.

BACKGROUND:

Last week, the bullet-riddled body of an Army jawan named Aurangzeb, who was abducted by a group of terrorists was found in south Kashmir's Pulwama. Aurangzeb was on leave for Eid when he was abducted from Kalampora area in Pulwama and was later killed.

The unfortunate incident occurred when an another Army personnel from the unit stopped a car asking the driver to drop Aurangzeb in Shopian. Terrorists stopped the vehicle as it approached Kalampora and abducted Aurangzeb and killed him later.
