At least three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad were eliminated by security forces in JK

Jammu, June 20: Security forces on Tuesday neutralized three terrorists belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror outfit after a fierce encounter that took place in Tral area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. The combing operation is underway and body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered.

 

Security forces including the joint team of troops of Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and Special Operations Group (SOG) led a join operation and cordoned off the Nazneenpora village of Tral area of Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir after getting a specific input of presence of some terrorists. As the search party reached the spot, security forces received bullets from the terrorists ensuing into the encounter. Immediately security forces retaliated heavily and eliminated three Jaish terrorists.


The slain terrorists include one Pakistan national and two locals. Unfortunately, five security personnel including on CRPF personnel and four army soldiers were injured in this encounter. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.


Earlier, in the day, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two Over-ground workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba terror outfit from Sopore town of north Kashmir. A police spokesman said that a joint naka was laid by police, 32-RR of army and 92 Bn CRPF near Dachanpora crossing at Rohama. He said the alert Naka Party tactfully chased and overpowered the duo.

The police spokesperson further stated that the duo has been identified as Arif Ahmad Malla of Shitloo, Rafiabad and Rayees Ahmad Naik of DH-Pora, Kulgam. “One pistol, three pistol rounds, a hand grenade and matrix sheet were recovered from the duo,” he added. In this regard, a case FIR number 48/2018 under section 2/25 IA. Act, 13 ULA Act stands registered in Police Station Panzalla.

On Sunday, security forces eliminated four unidentified terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. However, this was the first counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir after BJP withdrew support from the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led coalition government headed by Mehbooba Mufti. The state has been placed under governor's rule.
