Security forces gunned down four terrorists belonged to Islamic State in Anantnag district of JK

Srinagar, June 22: As many as four terrorists belonged to Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) were eliminated on Friday morning after a fierce encounter that took place in Srigufwara area of Anantnag district. Unfortunately, a policeman was martyred during the gunfight.

 

Security forces including the joint team of army and Jammu and Kashmir police led a join operation and cordoned off the Srigufwara area of Anantnag district after getting a specific input of presence of 3-4 terrorists. As the search party reached the spot, security forces received bullets from the terrorists who were hiding in a house ensuing into the encounter. Immediately security forces retaliated heavily and eliminated four unidentified terrorists.

JK Police revealed the identity of all four slain terrorists immediately after the bodies were recovered from the encounter spot saying that they belonged to Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) terror outfit. Along with the body of all four slain terrorists, arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.

A policeman was martyred. During the counter-terrorism operation, locals also hurled stones on security forces due to which clashes erupted. In retaliatory action, two civilians sustained minor injuries. Addressing the media, DGP SP Vaid said, "Encounter started in early hours of the morning, there was information of 3-4 terrorists' presence. the 4 bodies of terrorists are recovered. 1 Policeman is was martyred and 2 civilians are injuries."

DGP SP Vaid in a series of tweet said, “Encounter at Khiram Srigufara on , two terrorists down, firing still continues. Unfortunate we lost one colleague of J&K Police.” He said in another tweet, “Terrorists reportedly affiliated to ISJK.”” Two more bodies of terrorists recovered, taking total number to 4,” SP Vaid said in his third tweet.




Importantly, the encounter comes a day after central government deployed a team of National Security Guards (NSG) in Srinagar amidst report of terror attacks on Amarnath Yatra. On Thursday, at least three suspects were arrested in connection with a low-intensity blast inside a park in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir which left five people injured.

On June 20, Jammu and Kashmir went into governor's after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pulled out itself from an alliance with the People Democratic Party's (PDP) in the state government after repeated attacks on forces and civilians along with the soft approach of PDP towards terrorism.
