Arunachal Pradesh VKVs celebrate International Day of Yoga

Nirjuli (Arunachal Pradesh), June 22: The International Day of Yoga (IDY) was celebrated with great zest and vigour in various schools run by the Vivekananda Kendra in Arunachal Pradesh in which students and teachers and other persons participated.

According to reports, International yoga day was observed on June 21 at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya located at Nirjuli. Over 800 persons including members of the staff and students participated in the program.

The program began with a formal welcome address by the Principal of the school with a vivid description of importance of yoga, followed by a power point presentation by Rashmi P with the following as its important highlights.

The students performed various asanas and postures under the directions of Alokesh Boro. Pranayama and meditation were also performed.

 

Yoga Day was also observed at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Oyan, in Arunachal Pradesh. Two different programs were held at Oyan Sille Circle Office and at VKV Oyan. At the Circle Office program 60 persons participated.

Aparna Didi spoke on the importance of the day. Addressing the gathering she advised them that yoga must be done on a regular basis to reap the full benefit of it. She also said that yoga can help develop confidence and concentration. It naturally makes a person to be sensitive towards his immediate surroundings.


 

At VKV Oyan 364 students and 14 staff members participated in the IDY program and performed asanas and meditation and pranayama.

Addressing the students Aparna Didi said that yoga not only makes a person mentally and physically fit but also connects the people around. Especially for the school children its benefits are immense. It always leads a person from good to better and better to best, she said.

A student of class X Kumar Olin Jonkey also spoke on the importance of the day.

IDY program was also held at VKV PTC Banderdewa near Itanagar, capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Over 200 school students and 350 police personnel participated in the program.

Gari Tayi, Dy. SP spoke on the occasion and P Rajan, Principal VKV PTC Banderdewa welcomed and spoke on the importance of yoga in daily life.
