Exhibiting an electrifying performance, India seals 7 medals in the ISSF Junior World Cup

Suhl, June 26: Exemplifying their electrifying performance, Indian shooters have displayed their efficiency in the ISSF Junior Shooting World Cup. Placing two gold, one silver and a couple of bronze, India opened its medal accounts with 5 medals in the Championship on the international platform.

With a combination of Arjun Cheema from Mandi Gobindgarh, Anmol Jain from Faridabad and Gaurav Rana, a member of Air Force went on to win the team gold in the 50-meter free pistol event. The Women's team also bagged gold at the event. The team consisted of Neha, Devanshi Dhama and Anushka Patil who achieved the gold in the 50-meter free pistol event.

Hriday Hazarika won gold in leading the group of eight shooters that entered the 10m Air Rifle Men Junior final at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2 in Suhl.

In addition to this Anmol Jain won a bronze in the 50-meter free pistol individual event with a score of 549. Neha bagged silver in the 50-meter free pistol individual event with a score of 528, whereas Devanshi Dhama managed to acquire a bronze.

Apart from this, Elavenil Valarivan clinched her second consecutive gold by exhibiting her scintillating performance in 10m air rifle at the ongoing ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl. The 18-year-old scored 251.7 in the final to add to her gold won at the Junior World Cup in Sydney in March after shooting the then junior world record in qualification.

2018 Commonwealth Games medallist Mehuli Ghosh also reached the final but finished sixth with a total score of 164.2.

The two Indians had earlier topped the qualification with a superb, consistent display of shooting. Elavenil Valarivan also helped India clinch the team bronze in the event, partnering Shreya Agrawal and Zeena Khitta for a combined score of 1871.

So far India has seven medals from the competition with three gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
