MNM Chief Kamal Hassan meets Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, June 4: In order to discuss the long pending issue of Cauvery inter-state water dispute, Makkal Needhi Maiam Chief Kamal Hassan today met Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy at the state secretariat. During this meeting, the ace actor urged the newly appointed Chief Minister to engage dialogue between a neighboring state for an amicable solution.

Addressing media after the much-hyped meeting, Kumaraswamy said that Karnataka government is ready to work with Tamil Nadu to settle the water dispute problem. He further added that keeping the interests of farmers, both the States should cooperate with each other instead of fighting over the share of water.

Hailing the stand of CM Kumaraswamy, the MNM President said that he is ready to helm the responsibility as a mediator if the situation demands. The ace actor opined that legal battle would not solve the purpose. He expressed that such sensitive matter should be dealt with mutual understating.

The maverick actor has refused to comment on the ongoing protest of Pro-Kannada groups against Rajinikanth's movie. Kamal said that concern film board and other institutions will take the final call on Kaala. This was the first official meeting between two leaders after the grand swearing-in ceremony of Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister of Karnataka.
