Jammu, June 4: Continuing its hardcore investigation in connection with the Nagrota terror attack that killed seven soldiers at Jammu and Kashmir's Nagrota Army camp in November 2016, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a second arrest.

Notably, NIA has arrested a 34-year-old Tariq Ahmad Dar, who was Pulwama-based timber dealer and a resident of Chillipura in Shopian district in connection with the Nagrota terror attack. According to the probe agency, Tariq Ahmad Dar played an important role in assisting terrorists who carried out the attack.

After getting a specific input, Tariq Ahmad Dar was arrested in a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and NIA officials. During the preliminary interrogation, Tariq accepted of assisting terrorists who carried out the Nagrota attack.

The NIA in its statement said, "Tariq disclosed during interrogation that the terror attack was carried out by the Jaish-e-Mohammadterror outfit." "His revelations also corroborated with the disclosures made by the previously arrested accused Muneer-Ul-Hassan-Qadri of Kupwara. Muneer had revealed that he along with other Kashmir-based operatives were in touch with the JeM top leadership in Pakistan and had received a freshly infiltrated group of three Pakistani terrorists a day before the attack," the NIA’s statement said.

“All the terrorists stayed at a hotel in Jammu and then left the attackers at Nagrota outside the Army camp late at night and proceeded to the Kashmir valley," the statement concluded.

However, the probe agency will now produce Tariq the NIA special judge for seeking police custody. Tariq’s arrest comes almost a week after the NIA arrested a JeM operative Syed Muneer-Ul-Hasan-Qadri for his role in a Nagrota Army camp terror attack that killed seven soldiers at Jammu and Kashmir.
