Lucknow, June 5: Backing the idea of one nation one election coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that simultaneous polls will ensure the hassle-free governance and implementation of welfare projects.

As quoted by ANI, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister underlined the administrative issues during the model code of conduct. He further pointed that deployment of election staff and security personnel influences the functioning of state administration. He opined that if simultaneous elections are held, state governments will get a big relief from frequent election-related activities.

Talking about the problems associated with electoral rolls and other loopholes in the existing set-up, Adityanath advised the use of Aadhar card for updating voter list. In recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly by-polls, several complaints regarding poor electoral rolls were received.

The Chief Minister also announced the committee under the chairmanship of Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh to study the feasibility of the proposed electoral reform. The findings and recommendations of the committee will be submitted to the Centre.
