Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav ayes for one nation, one election

Lucknow, June 6: A day after UP Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath’s appeal on one nation, one election, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav said that his party has no issues with the proposed poll reform.

Speaking to the media here, the former Chief Minister suggested that new policy should be implemented from 2019. The SP leader also applauded the idea of linking Aadhaar to refine the electoral rolls. He further mentioned that one nation, one election would be a tough call for regional outfits as far as resource mobilization and poll management is concern.

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath had backed the idea of simultaneous polls coined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state government has also constituted a panel under the Chairmanship of Health Minister Siddharth Nath Singh to study the feasibility of the proposed electoral reform.
