Mumbai, June 7: Looking forward to having a strong base for the 2019 general elections, Bharatiya Janata Party is leaving no stones unturned. In a recent move taken by BJP, BJP President Amit Shah called on Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday. Looking forward to a truce, the meeting was taken place at ‘Matoshree’ and the two leaders involved themselves in a healthy discussion.

Accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP President Amit Shah met Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray in his new initiative "Sampark for Samarthan". In their second meeting after a year and the first after the hostile Palghar Lok Sabha bypolls last week, Shah was expected to pacify Thackeray and convince him to support the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in future elections.

But it seems like Uddhav Thackeray is in no mood to ink any truce with the ruling party. However, the issue of fighting elections together in 2019 remains unresolved, as Uddhav Thackeray did not commit to Amit Shah on that issue. Relations between the two parties hit rock bottom in recent times. Last month's by-elections, where the two allies fought against each other and almost lost both seats, is seen as a trailer of this separation.

After meeting Shiv Sena Chief, Amit Shah headed to meet the business tycoon Ratan Tata and tabled the achievements of Modi government before him. BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday met industrialist Ratan Tata here as part of his party's "Sampark for Samarthan" campaign ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state unit chief Raosaheb Danve and other party leaders were also present at the meet held at Tata's residence in south Mumbai. After having a fruitful meeting Amit Shah tweeted saying, “ Met Shri @RNTata2000 ji as part of "Sampark For Samarthan" campaign. I took him through Modi government's development achievements and initiatives. It was nice meeting him and greatly value our conversation,"

Expressing gratitude over meeting BJP President Amit Shah, Industrialist Ratan Tata said that he was impressed to learn about the progress in the implementation of the Narendra Modi government's initiatives and reform measures in the past four years. In a tweet, he mentioned, “ Pleasure meeting Shri @AmitShah with CM @Dev_Fadnavis & other dignitaries. Impressed to learn of progress in implementing Hon'ble PM @NarendraModi's various national initiatives & reforms over past 4 yrs. Also discussed commitment of @TataTrusts to support major national programs."

'Sampark for Samarthan' means 'contact for support' programme was launched by BJP National President Amit Shah in a bid to contact at least one lakh people who are recognized names in their fields to inform them about the PM Modi-led government's achievements.

During the mega-campaign, about 4,000 BJP functionaries, including chief ministers, Union ministers, and panchayat members will meet one lakh people who are recognized names in their fields to inform them about the PM Modi-led government's achievements.
