Gandhinagar, June 7: The retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) and industrial price of piped natural gas (PNG) in Gujarat has been hiked by Rs 1.10 per kg and Rs 1.75 per standard cubic meter (SCM) respectively. Notably, the increased price of CNG and PNG came into effect from Wednesday.

After the revision of prices done by Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL), the CNG price raised from Rs 49.65 per kg to Rs 50.75 per kg (inclusive of taxes) while the PNG price raised from Rs 29.95 per SCM to Rs 31.75 per SCM.

The prices have been increased only for the industrial consumers including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides and food processing industries among others. The state PSU, however, has kept PNG prices for residential and commercial users unchanged which is a big relief.

Importantly, GGL supplies CNG to 6 lakh vehicles in several parts of the state including Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Surendranagar, Morbi, Nadiad, Anand and areas from Bharuch to Vapi in South Gujarat. The company operates 291 CNG stations across Gujarat.
