Rajnath Singh meets CM Mufti in JK to review conditional ceasefire; urges people to help bring in peace

Srinagar, June 8: Home Minister Rajnath Singh after reaching to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday met CM Mehbooba Mufti and reviewed the ongoing conditional ceasefire during Ramzan.

 

After the meeting, Rajnath Singh and Mehbooba Mufti participated in Sports Conclave organised by the J-K State Sports Council. On this occasion, Rajnath Singh appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to help bring in peace saying else "we might lose another generation of the state to darkness.


"We believe that children anywhere are same. We understand that a few youths were misled into stone pelting, Children can make mistakes and that is why we decided to withdraw the cases,” the HM said, adding that "with the help of Jammu and Kashmir government, we will change the face and destiny of the state".


He further noted that the Centre was ready to hold talks with all right-minded people and Pakistan, provided the neighbouring country stopped terror activities emanating from its soil. "There is extreme love in the heart of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Jammu and Kashmir. It is our responsibility to provide a secure future to the youth and it can be done with the power of education and miracle of sports," the home minister said. "I want to appeal to the youth that they should take the path of development," he concluded.


Meanwhile, speaking in the event, CM Mehbooba Mufti said that the suspension of anti-militancy operations by the Centre for the holy month of Ramzan has provided a conducive atmosphere to the youth of the state to nurture their creativity and display their talent. “It has brought an attitudinal change among the youth who now see an opportunity for fulfilling their aspirations,” she added.


The chief minister said she has all along maintained that youth of the state holds a promise as they are full of talent, but that potential only needs to be honed and provided with an opportunity to display. Around 3,000 youth from across Kashmir valley attended the conclave.


Today on the second day, Rajnath Singh will visit Jammu and will take stock of the situation along the International Border where over a dozen security personnel have been killed in firing by shameless Pakistani forces.
