Pune, June 9: For Communist Party of India (Maoist) (CPI (M)) people, killing the oppositions is as simple as playing, they just consider one thing, kill the opposition. Something like this happened when Pune Police gave a statement to Court that the arrested were on the verge to create “another Rajiv Gandhi-type incident” as they have allegedly seized a letter from the residence of one of the five persons, who were arrested on Wednesday for "links" with the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist), that hinted at plans to assassinate PM Narendra Modi.

The Police on Wednesday arrested these five:

  • Sudhir Dhawale, noted Dalit activist-publisher from Mumbai

  • Surendra Gadling, a human rights lawyer

  • Mahesh Raut, tribal activist

  • Shoma Sen, Nagpur University English Professor from Nagpur

  • Rona Wilson, an activist from New Delhi.

These five were arrested in connection with 'Elgar Parishad', held in Pune, on December 31, 2017, a day ahead of Bhima-Koregaon caste riots. And the letter was found from the house of Rona Jacob Wilson at Munirka in Delhi which clearly stated requirement of Rs 8 crore to procure M-4 rifle and four-lakh rounds, and also about “another Rajiv Gandhi incident.” This was told by district government pleader Ujjwala Pawar to the court.

“We are thinking along the lines of another Rajiv Gandhi incident. It sounds suicidal and there is a chance that we might fail but the party must deliberate on our proposal,” Pawar quoted the letter.

In one of the letters from one Prakash to Wilson, it is stated that the Bhima Koregaon agitation was losing its steam, and cadres should keep it alive, Pawar said. The investigation also revealed that senior Maoist leaders were asking lower-rung cadres to target and recruit “intelligent” students from “renowned” institutes, she said.

All the five arrested were produced before the Sessions court on Thursday, which remanded them in police custody till June 14.

On the next side, On Thursday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) exposed the real face of Congress and its role in Bhima Koregaon violence that left one dead and several injured, including 10 policemen. The BJP asked the Congress to respond to the charges that it had links with the Bhima-Koregaon Dalit protests in Pune district and sought a response from the Opposition party’s chief Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra brought a letter in a light that revealed the role of opposition in Bhima-Koregaon Dalit protests. He further accused Congress of creating a conspiracy to spread violence.

Referring to letter recovered from the house of Bhima-Koregaon violence accused Rona Wilson, Sambit Patra launched a scathing attack on opposition saying, "This letter isn't just a letter, it strips every cloth of modesty Congress party was trying to wear. They've been exposed before people. Dalits were being used as tools."

He further quoted that the letter written by a core committee member of the banned outfit, CPI (Maoist) appreciated the efforts of Rona Jacob Wilson and others to make Elgaar Parishad organized by Dalit and left-wing organizations at Pune's Shaniwarwada on December 31 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Bhima-Koregaon battle a success.
