Chennai, July 10: Setting the tone for  2019 general election, BJP National President Amit Shah on Monday slammed DMK for dubbing BJP as an anti-Tamil party. Addressing the gathering of booth-level workers, Shah reiterated that ruling party at Center is committed to safeguarding Tamil culture and Tamil language.

Shah hailed Modi government’s move of bringing separate railway tickets in Tamil. The BJP national president announced that if voted to power, BJP government would launch a special programme for the promotion of Tamil language.

Referring to the financial aid extended by the center to Tamil Nadu, Shah stated that under 14th Finance Commission, Tamil Nadu got Rs. 1,99,096 crore under the stint of Prime Minister Modi. He underlined that when UPA was in power, the 13th Finance Commission gave only Rs. 94,540 crore.

Terming development as the topmost priority of Modi government, the BJP Chief informed that projects worth over Rs. 5 lakh crore were cleared for the welfare of the state.

Voicing concern over the rising graft cases in the state, Shah urged people to vote out corrupt political outfits in the upcoming 2019 polls. He urged party workers to reach out to people with 120 pro-people schemes launched by the Modi government. The BJP Chief hoped that with improved strike rate, the ruling party at center would get maximum seats in upcoming Lok Sabha Polls.

Earlier, Shah met senior Tamil Nadu BJP officials and office bearers and took the stock of state organization.  He also reviewed the poll-preparedness of the state Unit.
