Nepal lauds India’s support in linking Cross Border Rail Links between countries

New Delhi, July 10: Expanding connectivity with enhancing people to people connectivity, the government of Nepal has appreciated India for its support in the development of India-Nepal Cross-Border Rail Links.

Agreeing to put in concerted efforts to complete Jayanagar to Janakpur-Kurtha and Jogbani to Biratnagar Customs Yard railway lines, the two countries have decided to complete the project by October this year.

 

The countries have also agreed to take forward work in the remaining stretches of Kurtha-Bijalpura-Bardibas and Biratnagar Customs Yard-Biratnagar sections on priority. The decision was taken during the 6th meeting of Project Steering Committee (PSC) on India-Nepal Cross-Border Rail Link Projects held in Kathmandu today.

The meeting also stressed upon early finalization of the MoU for Preliminary Engineering cum Traffic Survey of Raxaul-Kathmandu rail line. The Governments of India and Nepal are committed to strengthening cross-border infrastructure to enhance connectivity between the two countries and to promote trade, commerce, and economic cooperation through smooth movement of people, goods and services.
