Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu launches 'Anna Canteen'

Vijayawada, July 11: Following the footsteps of neighboring Telangana and Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today launched 'Anna Canteen' a much awaited affordable food courts for common people.

In just Rs 5, 100 Anna Canteens across 35 cities in Andhra Pradesh will provide over 2.15 Lac plates of hygienic food every day, at subsidized rates to the poor.

 

 
 
'Anna Canteen' will provide Breakfast plate consisting 3 idlis, 3 poori, upma, pongal; For Lunch and Dinner, rice, dal, sambar, pickle, curry, and curd will be made available.

Renowned NGO Akshayapatra Foundation has been roped in for the hassle-free roll-out of 'Anna Canteen .Akshayapatra Foundation is also working with Telangana government under the scheme of Annapurna canteens.

In 2014, TDP had promised to set up affordable food court for people. This move of state government is inspired from Telugu Desam Party founder and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao ’s famous scheme of Rs 2 per kg rice. 

In Tamil Nadu, the then Chief Minister J Jayalalitha had introduced Amma canteen, affordable food centers for common people.

Akshaya Patra Foundation, a Bengaluru based NGO proactively implements the mid-day meal programme by serving wholesome food to over 1.6 million children from 13,839 schools across 12 states in India.
