Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey to recreate the world of Chanakya on silver screen

Mumbai, July 11: Versatile actor Ajay Devgn along with maverick director Neeraj Pandey is all set to recreate the epic era of Arya Chanakya on the big screen.

Based on the life and times of the greatest political strategist, economist, and royal advisor, the period drama will be produced under the prestigious banner of  Reliance Entertainment in collaboration with Plan C and Friday Filmworks.

In an official communication, director Neeraj Pandey said, “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for quite some time now. It’s an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure the audiences will love Ajay in his portrayal of the visionary genius.”

Ajay Devgn, who will be entering into the shoes of Chanakya took to Twitter and said, “Looking forward to playing #Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History, directed by @neerajpofficial.”

This will the first collaboration between Ajay Devgn and Neeraj Pandey. The ace actor had already essayed the role of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘ The Legend of Bhagat Singh’.

Next year, Ajay will be seen in another period drama based on the life Tanhaji, a close aide of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj where Young director Om Raut is helming the project.

The 49-year-old actor was last seen in Raj Kumar Gupta's crime-action ‘Raid’ where he played the role of a righteous senior income tax officer Amay Patnaik.

Talented director Neeraj Pandey, after the debacle of Aiyari, will mesmerize moviegoers with the extraordinary journey of Vishugupta Chanakya, the man behind the establishment of the dynasty of Chandragupta Maurya.

Pandey has films like Special 26, Baby, Total Siyapaa, Saat Uchakkey, Rustom, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Naam Shabana, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Aiyaary at his credits. Pandey is reportedly working on the Hindi remake of R Madhava’s suspense thriller Vikram vedha, a Tamil movie.

Earlier, veteran actor and director Chadrapraksh Dwivedi’s Television series of Chanakya had garnered rave reviews and applaud from audiences.
