Inspiring millions! PM Modi becomes 2nd “Most Influential Leader” on Twitter, EAM Sushma Swaraj among top 10

New Delhi, July 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly said, “Once we decide we have to do something, we can go miles ahead.” Standing stern by his words the leader has been one of the favorites compelling to base relations and make the country proud. Winning hearts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the 2nd most influential leader after Donald Trump on the micro-blogging site Twitter according to a global communication study.

Social media has helped in influencing people and also connected million all over the world. One click and you are connected to the people. Twitter has the power to connect people and the world leaders have used this tool to their utmost benefit. Not only Prime Minister Modi but External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has also marked her presence in the top 10 ranking of most followed leaders.

 

Interestingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the third-most followed world leader with 42 million followers on his personal account and 26 million followers on his institutional account @PMOIndia, which boasts the fourth-largest following.

Twiplomacy study 2018 identified 951 Twitter accounts out of which 372 personal and 579 institutional accounts and of heads of state and government and foreign ministers of 187 countries.

 

According to the “Twiplomacy” study, Sushma Swaraj is not only the most followed female leader in the world but also the most followed foreign minister in the entire world. As per the study, tweets from the US President generated 264 million interactions which include likes and retweets over the past 12 months. While the Prime Minister Modi’s Tweet generated 52 million interactions.

 

Prime Minister Modi has 43.4 million followers on Twitter, Donald Trump has 53.4 million while Swaraj has 11.8 million followers.

Interestingly, Facebook has emerged as the most popular social network among the government leaders and it is where they have the biggest audience, even more than Twitter, according to the study.

Acting as a tool to influence millions and generate interaction through tweets the leaders have created the world into a global village. In this generation where social media rules it has become an important aspect to deal with people on the digital platform.
