Moscow, July 12: The world is all set to welcome the champions of FIFA World Cup on July 16 as France will face Croatia for the first time in the finals. Croatia sunk England’s World Cup dream in a thrilling extra-time clash to take the World Cup’s second semi-final in Moscow.

England's run to the World Cup semi-finals was exciting, fun and unexpected, but ultimately they were outclassed by Croatia running straight ahead to the finals. The rampaging wildcards conceded a goal in the first five minutes and went scoreless until Ivan Perisic found the net in the 68th minute via a cross from Šime Vrsaljko.

The equalizer appeared to dash England’s fiery streak as they began to make sloppy errors in defense and attack. Prolific striker Harry Kane, who slew a shot on goal after a free kick late in the piece, was far from his best in the crucial clash which saw Croatia through to its first World Cup final.

The Croats came back from a goal behind and won the game, 2-1 in extra-time, dashing England's hopes of sealing a place in the title clash for the first time since 1966.

Croatia will now face France in the summit clash in Moscow on Sunday. The third-place play-off match between England and Belgium will be played on Saturday at Saint Petersburg.
