Pune, July 12: Not only India but the whole world lost one of the precious spiritual gem and head of Sadhu Vaswani mission Dada JP Vaswani who passed away in Pune today at the age of 99.


 

Born in Hyderabad, Sindh (Pakistan) on 2nd of August 1918, Vaswani was a world-renowned spiritual leader known for promoting vegetarianism and animal rights. He is credited to have written over 150 self-help books.

He was the recipient of the 1998 U Thant Peace Award, given by the United Nations. Dada Vaswani's birthday is celebrated as a Global Forgiveness Day.

In a series of tweets, PM Narendra Modi expressed condolence saying, “I am saddened beyond words on the passing away of Dada J.P. Vaswani. He lived for society and served the poor and needy with compassion. “

“Dada J.P. Vaswani was a guiding light for me. About 28 years ago, I had the honor of being with him at a world religions conference in the USA. His clarity of thought stood out. In 2013 I had visited Pune to inaugurate a nursing college associated with him,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi also said, “I join the lakhs and lakhs of people whose lives were touched by Dada J.P. Vaswani in remembering him. His thoughts, teachings and social service efforts live on, highlighting the values he stood for and the work he did.”

 

Blessed with immense wisdom, he was passionate about educating the girl child, cleanliness and furthering peace as well as brotherhood.
