Waving the excelling dynamic talent of #EmpoweringRuralWomen, PM Modi appreciated the efforts taken by Self Help Groups

New Delhi, July 12: “Women were excelling in every sphere and hence it was vital to recognize their talent and provide them with the right opportunities,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi begins his much famous and talked about interaction with the women of Self Help Groups in India.

The Marathi saying, “मुलगी शिकली प्रगति झाली” has connected the right chord as the Modi government has empowered women to a level where women are have showcased their talent and excelling in every aspect. PM Modi noted how through these SHGs, several people have benefitted in the rural areas, especially the women. Citing it as a fortunate opportunity, PM Modi today communicated with more than 1 crore women from all over the country. Impressed with the women of SHG he stated that all the women are an inspiring example of resolution, entrepreneurship and collective effort.

PM Modi emphasized that when we talk about women empowerment, the most important need is to provide women with the opportunity to identify their own powers, their qualifications, and their skill. Women have marked their presence in every field be it agriculture, the dairy sector contributing their share to growth and development. In our country's rural areas, for small entrepreneurs, for workers, self-help groups are playing very important roles.

Self-Help group women are aware, making them financially and socially strong too in a way to base the economic advancement of the poor, especially women. Connecting to women entrepreneur of self-help groups from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh have shared their stories on how the government has helped them in basing their future.

Talking about women contribution in the agriculture sector, PM Modi remarked that there are more than a half lakh members of self -help groups who are able to cultivate paddy in a better way. Likewise, nearly 2 million members are cultivating vegetable in new ways.

 

Sudha Baghel from Barwani in MP spoke about how a self -help group had transformed her life. She is associated with the animal husbandry sector and is making bangles. Due to this, she is able to send her children to study and is also studying herself!

Special attention is also been given on the skill development of rural youth under the Deendayal Atayoday scheme. The youth is being trained for both employment and self-employment so that the youth of the country can move ahead with their aspiration.

Deendayal Atayoday Scheme-the National Rural Livelihood Mission has been aiming to reach crores of rural poor households in 2.5 lakh gram panchayats across the country, providing them with sustainable live This scheme has been started in all States.
