Taking pride at the rich discoveries of ancient India, PM Modi cuts ribbon for new Archaeological Headquarters in New Delhi

New Delhi, July 12: Emphasizing on taking pride of our history and our rich archaeological heritage, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut the ribbons of “Dharohar Bhawan”, the new Headquarters building of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), in New Delhi.

Pointing at the significant work taken forward by the archaeologist PM Narendra Modi said that the department has been doing a noteworthy job since the last 150 years. He said that people should take a lead in knowing about local history, and archaeology of their towns, cities, and regions.

 

India covers a rich heritage of history, culture, and tradition. Digging out the long-lost antiquity India has a wide range of cultural and historical identities added to it. PM Modi also commented that lessons in local archaeology could form part of the school syllabus. In this context, he also mentioned the importance of well-trained local tourist guides, who are familiar with the history and heritage of their area.

He added that each archaeological discovery, meticulously made by archaeologists over long periods of time, has its own story to tell. In this context, he recalled how he and the then French President had traveled to Chandigarh a few years ago, for a first-hand view of archaeological discoveries made by a joint Indo-French team.

The Prime Minister highlighted that India should showcase its great heritage with pride and confidence, to the world. The new Headquarters building of ASI has been equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including energy-efficient lighting and rainwater harvesting. It includes a Central Archaeological Library with a collection of about 1.5 lakh books and journals.

there are many instances of the archaeological surveys that have entitled India to great discoveries. The recent discovery in Uttar Pradesh has also brought in insights of new development and research scope for bright India.
