Rajnath Singh levels up relations with Bangladesh, meets PM Sheikh Hasina to discuss bilateral ties

Dhaka, July 14: Changing the demographics of India’s relation with other countries, Indian Diplomacy has left no stone unturned. Molding relations to procure a bright and enhancing future for the country, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh embarked on a three-day visit to Bangladesh. Meeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, both the ministers discussed ways to boost their bilateral ties.

 

The Home minister met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to discuss various bilateral issues. The Home Minister along with the Prime Minister will also inaugurate a new, state-of-art, integrated Indian Visa Application Centre in Dhaka.

Before embarking his visit, Rajnath Singh tweeted saying, "The relationship between India and Bangladesh is anchored in history, culture, language and shared values of democracy. India attaches great significance to ties with Bangladesh."

The Home Minister said India and Bangladesh have made notable progress in transforming land and maritime boundaries into zones of peace and tranquility. "Looking forward to strengthening the bilateral relations between both the countries on the basis of friendship and trust," he said in another tweet.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on his three-day visit to Bangladesh will hold discussions on various issues, including security, border management, cooperation in countering illegal activities and travel arrangements with his counterpart.

The Rohingya issue is also likely to figure in the meeting. Singh will also discuss the steps, to be taken to strengthen the existing mechanism to check movement of illegal immigrants and smuggling of cattle, arms and ammunition, narcotics and other items through the porous Indo-Bangla border.
