In an official communication, the Congress President sought the support of the ruling party for the hassle free passage of the Women's Reservation Bill. He asked Prime Minister Modi to rise above party politics to strengthen the cause of Women Empowerment.

Referring to the steps taken by the Congress-led UPA government, Gandhi mentioned that in March 2010, with the Support of BJP, the legislation was passed in Rajya Sabha. However, he admitted that for eight years, it got stalled in the lower house.
"When this Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha with the support of the BJP, the then Leader of the Opposition, Arun Jaitley, called the passage of the Bill historic and momentous. Gandhi mentioned.
The Amethi lawmaker pointed out that the ruling party must fulfill the poll promise of 2014 where BJP had backed the Bill.
The Congress President also informed about the signature drive where 3.2 million signatures have been collected by the workers of Congress.
The top leader urged Modi to ensure the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill in the upcoming Monsoon session of Parliament.
