Availing employment opportunity, Assam lays red carpet for the largest Britannia factory

Guwahati, July 17: Leveling up the stage and pitching in new avenues for Advantage Assam, the state Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal opened wide doors for Britannia state-of-the-art factory as the company’s biggest Greenfield project in the country. This factory is expected to boost Assam’s reputation as a clean manufacturing hub at the gateway of South East Asia.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today inaugurated the sprawling 22-acre Britannia manufacturing unit, touted to be the Bengaluru food-products company’s largest unit at Rampur, Assam.

The project has aimed as an avenue to generate employment in the country and also has appointed over 900 people in the state. 70% of the workers in the factory will comprise of women. Proclaiming to thrust the clean Assam, Green Assam movement, the plant is operated using cleanest fuel in manufacturing, reiterating Clean Assam, Green Assam motto.

Speaking at the inauguration event, CM Sonowal said that the company is setting a strong footprint in the State, providing large-scale local employment, strengthening Assam’s economy and reputation as a favorite investment destination.

The factory has been set up at the 100th year of Britannia, pointing out that the profit of the company will not just be confined to the company but also to the local people leaving in the state. Generating employment by setting up the factory has given a boost to youth employment and a push to similar major investment opportunities in the state.
