Helsinki, July 17: The year 2018 has been on a positive track reclining the loggerhead countries to unite and start afresh. While the world witnessed a growing camaraderie between North Korea and South Korea; the relations between the United States and North Korea also cemented the long grown hitch.

Touting to start afresh and let bygones be bygones, United States President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin began their historic summit by vowing their determination to reset the troubled relations between the world’s greatest nuclear powers.

The US and Russian leaders expressed a desire to cooperate on global challenges, after talks on an array of issues from Syria, Ukraine and China to trade tariffs and the size of their nuclear arsenals. Standing alongside Putin at a joint news conference, Trump said he had "spent a great deal of time talking about" election meddling, without going into detail or explicitly condemning any interference after 12 Russian agents were indicted in the United States.

Trump stressed that Putin had delivered a "powerful" denial of any Russian vote meddling and said the US investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller had been a "disaster" for the United States. Stating that the CIA claimed the 12 Russians on vote meddling issue, Putin denied any such interference, saying the allegations were “complete nonsense.” He said U.S. prosecutors could ask to interrogate the Russians accused of meddling in the U.S. elections.

While some diplomats criticized Donald Trump’s decision to meet Russian President, the former still did convince his diplomats to make inroads with Russia. The summit was to be called off entirely after 12 Russian military agents were indicted under a long-running probe into Moscow’s alleged manipulation of the 2016 election.

Putin praised cooperation between Russian and U.S. security services, adding that he favored continued cooperation in “the fight against terror and ensuring cybersecurity”.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said separately that the talks were “better than super” in comments reported by Russian news agencies.
