Maharashtra #MilkAgitation: Western railway attaches milk wagon to ensure supply to the city

Mumbai, July 19: Western Railways has planned to send milk to the city of Mumbai as it will face milk paucity from today as sufficient milk could not reach the city due to the ongoing agitation. Also, leader of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana MP Raju Shetty has been camping at Dahanu, a western suburbs railway Station, after announcing to block the milk wagons reaching Mumbai.

 

Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana has launched an agitation to cut the supply of Milk to the cities of Maharashtra to press their demand of Rs. 5 per litre subsidy directly in the bank accounts of the milk producers from Monday. Various parts of the state have witnessed intensified agitation and blockade of milk transport by road since Tuesday.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured the state Legislature in Nagpur today that harsh charges will not be pressed against the milk subsidy agitators in Maharashtra and a meeting will be held between the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and the leaders of the agitation tomorrow.

Meanwhile, on the fourth day of the agitation of the milk-producing farmers in Maharashtra, the workers of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana did Chakka Jam agitation at various places in the state.

In Buldana district the agitating workers of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana brought the cattle and Bullock-Carts on Khamgao- Jalna road and did rasta roko.

Many workers of Shetkari Sanghatana were arrested. In Kolhapur, police averted the attempt of Chakka Jam at all the three toll plaza on Mumbai- Kolhapur highway and arrested the leader and workers of Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana. At some places, agitating workers also damaged ST buses.
