Wave a goodbye to Rs 100! RBI announces new attractive Rs 100 with motif of Rani ki Vav

New Delhi, July 19: Bye Bye Rs. 100! Lavender in color, imprinting motif of Gujrat’s ‘Rani Ni Vav’, the Reserve Bank of India is all set to replace the existing Rs 100 note with this new attractive one. Announcing to introduce a new series of Rs.100 currency notes, the note will be available by next month.

 

The Reserve Bank of India introduced the new series of new notes for Rs. 100 hinting that the notes will not be stopped but continued in a new avatar. The visuals of the note implicate its appearance in violet with Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, bearing the signature of Urjit R. Patel, Governor, RBI. The new denomination has Motif of “RANI KI VAV” on the reverse, depicting the country’s cultural heritage. The note has other designs, geometric patterns supporting with the overall color scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.

Salient Features

Taking a glance at the banknote, you could see a latent image with denominational numeral 100. The denominational numeral is written as १०० in Devnagari. Like all other notes, representing the father of the nation, the note has a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the center

Micro letters ‘RBI’, ‘भारत’, ‘India’ and ‘100’ are seen written on the note. Windowed security thread with inscriptions ‘भारत’ and RBI with color shift; Colour of the thread changes from green to blue when the note is tilted

Guarantee Clause, Governor’s signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards right of Mahatma Gandhi portrait. There is the Ashoka Pillar emblem on the right with Mahatma Gandhi portrait and electrotype (100) watermarks

Number panel with numerals in ascending font is seen on the top left side and bottom right side. For visually impaired intaglio or raised printing of Mahatma Gandhi portrait, Ashoka Pillar emblem raised triangular identification mark with micro-text 100, four angular bleed lines both on the right and left sides

Reverse (Back)

The reverse side of the note imprints the year of printing of the note on the left with Swachh Bharat logo with the slogan. As aforementioned the note has the Motif of RANI KI VAV with denominational numeral written as १०० in Devnagari.

All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 100/- issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender. As is normal, when a new design of banknote is introduced, printing and supply of these notes for distribution to public through the banking channel will gradually increase.
