New Delhi, July 18: In yet another candid conversation with the beneficiaries of government schemes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today had the Saubhagya to interact with the people benefitted by rural electrification. Enlightening hopes and houses; PM Modi has won million hearts and garnered uncountable blessings through electrifying each and every house.

A dream accomplished, a promise fulfilled, the Modi government achieved a milestone by lighting the houses. Stating the efforts taken by the Centre, PM Modi highlighted saying that from the bulwarks of the Red Fort, the government had announced that every village will be electrified. The Centre walked the talk and went to every village. They not only focus on electrification but also reformed the distribution systems across the country.

Reaching the hilly areas and regions and working on providing electricity was not an easy take but the Prime Minister lauded the efforts and dedication of the team to accomplish the said task. Interacting with the villagers in Manipur which was the last among the 18000 villages electrified, the beneficiaries lauded the efforts by government and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister.

People from Arunachal Pradesh also thanked the Prime Minister in supplying electricity as it has made many things possible with children being able to study better. People from Assam shared their experiences saying that they had to go very far for work such as photocopying. The coming of electricity has enhanced convenience. When the time to pay bills came, we got very less time. Now we also pay our bill online.

The village, Roro in West Singhbhum District was not very well connected. The villagers had to complete all work before sunset. The coming of electricity changed that. Now, they also have access to the water supply. The beneficiaries poured ample of gratitude and humble gesture commending the job done by the government and bringing a smile on faces especially benefitting the children.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further noted that even after 70 years of attaining independence, but 18,000 villages did not have electricity connections. It has been very unfortunate for the people that in spite of electing a government with rising hopes, the earlier government did not fulfill their promises.

Taking a dig at the former government, PM Modi said that in the year 2005 the government promised to provide electricity by the year 2009, but needless to say the promises were not fulfilled. The then President of the ruling party went a step ahead & said we will bring electricity to every home but all in vain.

Acclaiming the future prospects and accomplishing every said word, PM Modi emphasized saying that one of the priorities for them is the development of Eastern India. About 14,500 villages out of 18,000 villages not electrified were in Eastern India. The Modi government has changed that. Eastern India can play an even bigger role in India's development journey. Praising the efforts a beneficiary from Jammu and Kashmir said that for the first time, the country got a Prime Minister who thought about the people, about electrification and helped to gain benefits.

With an aim to electrify the villages of India, Government of India till now brightened 5,96,450 census villages out of 5,97,464 villages while 100% electrification is done in all villages of seventeen states so far. Seventeen states including Assam, Karnataka, Bihar, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, West Bengal and Sikkim are the states where 100% villages are electrified till date and rest will be brightened soon.
