Supreme Court summons center over Lokpal appointment

New Delhi, July 2: Supreme Court today summoned central government on the appointment of Lokpal. Referring to the alleged delay in the process, the apex court has asked the center to prepare a fresh report within 10 days.
Demanding a fresh affidavit in this regard, the top legal body has directed center to mention all details of the proposed action plan for anti-graft regulator.
A bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and R Banumathi gave its ruling on a contempt petition filed by NGO Common Cause.
On April 27, a plea questioning the role of the central government in the process of Lokpal appointment was filed by Common Cause. Next hearing on this matter is scheduled for July 17.
