New Delhi, July 2: The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) today issued a red corner notice against businessman Nirav Modi, in connection with the multi-crore fraud at state-run Punjab National Bank. Along with Nirav Modi, Interpol also issued a red corner notice against his brother Neeshal Modi and one of Nirav's close aide Subhash Parab. The notice has been issued in CBI and Enforcement Directorate case related to cheating, corruption & money laundering.

The CBI had approached Interpol last month seeking issuance of red corner notice against Nirav. The notice empowers police or agencies of 190 member-countries to locate and arrest the person against whom it is issued.

The Interpol issued the red corner notice (RCN) on the basis of a charge sheet filed by CBI in a special court in Mumbai and the arrest warrant issued by the judge Special J C Jagdale there.

Nirav Modi along with his wife Ami Modi, a US citizen, brother Nishal Modi, a Belgian citizen, and uncle Mehul Choksi, all accused in the CBI FIRs in the case, had left the country in the first week of January, weeks before the country's biggest banking scam surfaced. Nishal and Parab have also been charge-sheeted by the CBI along with Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi for alleged corruption and cheating.
