Bihar Monsoon Session tables important bills, may observe stormy discussion by opposition

Patna, July 20: Setting the stage ready, Bihar is all set to begin its Monsoon Session for both the houses which is likely to observe a stormy discussion. The opposition in Bihar has geared up to attack the ruling party on various issues pertaining to law and order in the state.

The Monsoon Session of both the state assembly and state legislative council has been sought to conclude on July 26 which sums it up to cater only five sittings. The session will also table its first supplementary budget for 2018-19.

The session will also focus on issues perceiving women. The Opposition is set to attack the government over 'deteriorating law and order especially in crime against women in recent times'.

Senior ministers of the NDA government, at an all-party meet ahead of the session, sought the cooperation of the Opposition in running the business of the House, which also includes tabling of some important Bills such as amendments in the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act, 2016.

The Opposition, however, said that running the business of the House depended on the treasury bench as it would raise the issues and concerns facing the people of the state and it was up to the government to address them.

Nevertheless, the Monsoon Session of the Parliament is also witnessing various issues tabled and the discussion over special status to Andhra Pradesh, and No confidence motion will take place today.
