Patna, July 25: The Bihar Assembly on Tuesday saw a heated argument between the ruling and the opposition party. The heated exchange of words created an uproar over the alleged sexual exploitation of girls at a state-funded shelter home in Muzaffarpur that rocked the Bihar Assembly.

The heated exchange of words was witnessed between the opposition and treasury benches within minutes of commencement of proceedings. Soon after the House resumed, opposition MLAs particularly those belonging to the RJD, the Congress and the CPI (ML) were on their feet. Many of the MLAs trooped into the Well of the House shouting anti-government slogans and demanding a discussion on the Muzaffarpur shelter home issue.

Insisting the speaker to hold a discussion on the issue, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav pointed out and smashed an allegation that the government was shielding the guilty on the alleged sexual exploitation of state-funded shelter homes. There has been no let up in crimes against women notwithstanding the claims by the government that they could safely move around even in the night.

To this allegation, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shravan Kumar said the government is prepared to come up with a response on the issue. As the anti slogan started raising in the house, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi remarked, "The government is neither trying to shield nor implicate anyone. The matter had come to light not because of you (opposition) but because of a social audit conducted by the government itself."

The government asserted that they had not moved away from any responsibility and are taking action against any of the accused in the Muzaffarpur case which included Brajesh Thakur. Brajesh Thakur led the NGO which ran the shelter home and was said to be close to many people in the ruling dispensation

The heated arguments rocked the Bihar Assembly letting the house to be adjourned by 2 pm in the afternoon on Tuesday.
