Bhopal, July 25: Madhya Pradesh becomes a supporting stick for one of the neglected classes of our society, acid victims. The state govt has decided to include acid victims under disability and they will be eligible to get all benefits of various schemes of the government as per Disabilities Act 2016.

An amendment has already been carried out in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 with the aim of connecting the disabled persons with the mainstream of development.

Several steps have been taken by MP Govt. recently to ease the lives of disabled people and give them benefits of all government facilities. According to the Commissioner of Social Justice and Disabled Welfare, now 21 types of disabilities including acid attack have been included in place of 7 types of disabilities mentioned earlier in the Disabilities Act 2016. Not only this, Disabled students will also be provided with laptops and tricycles under the Chief Minister’s Disabled Education Incentive Scheme.

Under this scheme vision impaired, hearing impaired, students with bone deformities and mentally retarded students with minimum 50 percent marks in Class ninth and those who have been admitted in Class tenth will be benefitted. The state government will also give 50 percent discount to the disabled persons for traveling on buses. State Government has issued notification for this and action will be taken against the bus operator who does not follow the order.
