Congress MLC aide involved in killing of Gauri Lankesh; why media, so-called secular forces keep pin-drop silence?

New Delhi, July 26: Soon after the journalist Gauri Lankesh was brutally killed, Congress and many other political parties and media houses blamed PM Modi, BJP and RSS. As Gauri Lankesh was a staunch critic of Hindutva, every other person, politicians and journalists accused right-wing political parties and organizations. But now when the Congress MLCs close aide is arrested in relation to the murder of Gauri Lankesh, so-called secular forces, candle-march group, politicians and media houses have kept themselves pin-drop silence.

 

Notably, Rajesh D Bangera who was a personal assistant to Kodagu MLC Veena Achaiah and a 10th accused in connection with journalist Gauri Lankesh murder have confessed his crime to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

According to SIT official, “Bangera have confessed before the SIT that he had trained Parashuram Waghmare, the suspected shooter, in using firearms and supplied live bullets to the killers.” The official further stated that Bangera have close ties with accused Amol Kale and others.


The SIT official further confirmed that Rajesh Bangera admitted he trained Parashuram Waghmare, Ganesh Miskin and others associated with the outfit in firing. “The training sessions were held at several places in Karnataka and Maharashtra,” he added.

SIT official further noted that a diary seized from Kale’s possession had revealed the involvement of Rajesh Bangera. “Kale had written ‘Rajesh Sir’ in the diary and that is where we got to know of him initially. We followed the lead and gathered more information about him,” the official added.


On the basis of this information, Rajesh was arrested by SIT on July 23 and on Wednesday he was sent to 13-day remand by a local court.

BACKGROUND:

Rajesh D Bangera (50), a resident of Paluru in Kodagu district, was working as personal assistant to Kodagu MLC Veena Achaiah. Earlier, he worked as an official in the Education Department and later worked as PA to District Panchayat Official Sherin Subbaiah, before working under Veena Achaiah. Earlier, Bangera was a member of Sanatan Sanstha and he had left the organization after getting a government job. He had two gun licenses and is well-trained in shooting.
