#PresidentInBastar: Prez Kovind dedicates new medical college, launches smartphone distribution scheme

Raipur, July 26: President Ram Nath Kovind today launched Chhattisgarh government's Sanchar Kranti Yojna at Jagdalpur in the Naxal-affected Bastar region of the state today. Under the scheme, 50 lakh smartphones will be distributed free of cost to the people.


 

President Ram Nath Kovind also dedicated the new building of Late Baliram Kashyap Memorial Medical College at Dimrapal village near Jagdalpur, the divisional headquarter of Bastar, today. President is on a two-day visit to the Maoist affected Bastar and Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh.

While the dedication event, President Kovind said, “Baliram Kashyap Ji was called the ' voice of Bastar ' as he was always active for the development of the region and was the much respected public leader here. They had close links with me. Releasing this hospital today, I am experiencing joy.”

President Kovind further added that the soul of our country lies in rural and tribal zones. If someone wants to be familiar with India's roots, it should come in zones like Bastar. From these roots, the development of our country is thriving.

He said, “Confused with the Naxalism, some people have attempted to generate an atmosphere of violence and fear. In our culture and tradition, and in our Constitution, there is no place for violence.”

On Wednesday, the first day of his tour to Bastar, President interacted with farmers and members of self-help groups at an integrated agricultural farm in Hiranar village. He observed the Integrated Agriculture model at the Organic Agriculture Field near Dantewada.

 

Kovind had lunch with the children of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram. President also interacted with the tribal youth working in the Business process outsourcing centre in Dantewada.
